Senior UI Designer

The chosen candidate will join a development team responsible for developing a financial web portal that offers valuation transparency, analysis and workflow. The system provides users with in-depth reference and market data supporting all instruments evaluated by Interactive Data.* This initiative is considered a top project for the Pricing and Reference Data division of Interactive Data for information delivery to clients.*

The candidate will be work closely with product and development managers to design and build visually appealing, intuitive interfaces for real-time and end of day data along with online workflow tools for financial information delivery. The resulting product should reflect usability best-practices current with industry standards for high quality financial websites.* The candidate is expected to drive the usability methodology, evaluate user interactions, conduct usability studies, and present findings and recommendations in a usability plan. The candidate is expected to have hands-on web implementation skills.

The candidate should understand the full software development lifecycle (SDLC). We are seeking a professionally mature technologist who is detail-oriented, embraces development best practices, and communicates clearly and effectively with peers and stakeholders. The candidate should show a passion for keeping up with best practices and emerging technologies for web development and enjoy the challenges of building a rich, interactive web application.

Job Specifications: Technical

• 10+ years of web UI design and development*experience as an information architect, user experience architect or*designer.
• Experience in leading*user-centered design initiatives.
• Expert knowledge and experience*with front-end technologies, including Javascript, HTML, CSS, jQuery and cross-browser development.
• Expert knowledge and experience*with graphic arts packages, ie: Photoshop.
• Strong knowledge and experience*withAjax,*JSON and XML.
• Proficient with integrating PHP,*Java, Ruby or Python server side frameworks with an emphasis on structuring large web applications using MVC frameworks such as Zend.
• Experience and proficiency with*content management tools a strong plus
• Proficiency with software configuration management tools such as Subversion
• Familiarity with Linux shell*scripting and the Apache web server is a strong plus.

Job Specifications: General

• Financial industry experience*preferred, especially within a fixed income capital markets domain.
• Proven ability to collaborate*with other developers and product business teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate design rationale to product*owners and team members.
• Ability to multi-task and juggle*priorities among different efforts/projects**

List REQUIRED degree(s), license(s), and/or certification(s):

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer*Science or equivalent.
• HFI (Human Factors International)*Usability Analyst certification or equivalent a strong plus.
