We are looking for a Software Support Engineer to join our support staff and contribute in a variety of areas, including the monitoring, support, problem resolution and server configuration management for our vendor and custom built investment and trading applications that the group is responsible for. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities:
- Be part of team providing front-line 5x16 production support for proprietary and third software and data to Trade Operations, Portfolio Managers, Traders and other business user teams
- Ensure, coordinate and expedite successful completion of escalated support issues
- Identify, research and resolves technical problems pertinent to our applications and collaborate with the application development team or third-party vendors
- Deployment of proprietary Firm's software to DEV, QA, Production and DR environments by implementing a standard and repeatable deployment process
- Manage ongoing configuration of proprietary Firm's software and data across all environments
- Manage source code repositories
- Implement and maintain development and production tools for running The Firm's software
- Responsible for testing and quality assurance of proprietary software
- Responsible for monitoring and repair of production jobs and data
- Acquire/build and maintains knowledge base for trading and investment applications
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical major, is required
- Experience with Subversion, Linux, Shell scripting, networking, SQL databases and open source software build processing ideal
- Solid understanding of the Windows operating systems.
- Experience with complex multi-tier and multi-site enterprise software deployments
- Must be detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in business continuity planning and implementation also helpful
- Excellent SQL skills are required
- Experience with Linux and source code control tools very helpful
- Experience with change management policies and procedures also helpful
- Trading application support and FIX support experience
- Commitment to quality and customer service.
- Understanding of programming languages (java, C#, Perl) and object oriented concepts
- Understanding of relational databases, with emphasis on Microsoft SQL Server, data loading mechanisms and reporting
- Understanding of financial market data would be a plus
- Excellent communication skills - both written and oral
- Ability to learn new concepts, systems, and software independently and quickly
- Willingness to take initiative, seeing problems through to final completion.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, set goals and meet deadlines
