  • Substantial knowledge of:
    • Rapid Thermal Processing, Chemical Vapor Deposition, Physical Vapor Deposition
    • Process integration
  • Knowledge and ability to use computer tools such as all applications in the Microsoft Office Suite, JMP, Camline SPACE, Comets, Experimental Database and manufacturing equipment computerized systems.
  • Overall knowledge of engineering to sustain, troubleshoot, modify, improve and develop integrated circuit manufacturing processes. This knowledge covers a variety of topics such as mathematics, chemistry, mechanics, materials, electrical, physics, probability and statistics, and design of experiments (DOE)
  • Knowledge and experience with 5S/Lean, six-sigma, zero defect, etc…
  • Ability to read and interpret advanced technical publications for application to process development and continuous improvement activity
  • Skills necessary and/or history of writing technical papers for advanced technical journals such as IEEE, ECS, JAP and others

Mandatory Skills

  • Planning and execution of technical projects to drive continuous improvement projects
  • Analyze, summarize and integrate project results with other project members
  • Design, coordinate, and perform experiments to develop new processes and improve manufacturing techniques
  • Lead team activities to reduce variation in all critical processes, with Cpk’s ³ 1.67
  • Lead team activities to solve process and device problems
  • Apply planning and problem solving tools such as PFMEA, fault tree analysis, and event tree analysis in team settings
  • Provide training and technical direction to support personnel
  • Establish and document equipment and process operating specifications
  • Develop OCAPS for all processes
  • Provide disposition to affected processes, tools, and lots when necessary
  • Solves complex process integration problems in both team environments and as an individual contributor
  • Communicate regularly with management and other functional groups within Atmel to ensure understanding of needs/problems in relation to the process engineering function. Prepare and present reports to management
  • Interact with other technical groups throughout Atmel and elsewhere to exchange technical information and remain abreast of new developments in the field
  • Analyze, prepare and present equipment purchase recommendations

  • Read, interpret, and analyze scientific and technical journals and technical procedures
  • Respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business and technical community
  • Effectively present information to management, public groups and employees


BS, MS, or PhD in physics, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, engineering physics


5 to 8 years semiconductor industry or industries closely allied with semiconductor
