Role Summary/Purpose:

We're looking for talented Java engineers to continue to drive our product forward.

Essential Responsibilities: 

Fundamental Role:  Functions as a Staff Software Engineer while devoting a significant portion of their time to technical leadership for an assigned portion of their team’s scope.  This leadership involves providing guidance and review to other engineer’s work.  Responsible for ensuring all deliverables are high quality including software coding, and product and process documentation.  Quality is defined as contributing to solutions that deliver an excellent end-to-end customer experience with a high measure of compliance with business and technical requirements and software architecture/design documents, and product and process documentation.

Influence typically impacts multiple related projects.  Decisions may have an impact on crucial business objectives.

Executes Effectively

• Operates using Agile development techniques
• Provides the technical expertise to compliment the development manager’s project and organizational expertise for the assigned scope.
• Provides a single point of contact for technological issues for assigned scope including intellectual property, privacy and security.
• Provides input on product strategy and roadmaps related to assigned scope.
• Provides input on multi-year development roadmaps, task definition and assignment, scheduling within the assigned scope.
• Provides proactive guidance and review on all engineer’s work within the assigned scope.
• Fights technological fires affecting assigned scope.
• Initiates, develops and drives the adoption of product and process improvements.    
• Exercises excellent judgment that balances tradeoff decisions and the needs of the three key stakeholders.

Builds Strong Teams

• Supports Architects, and collaborates with peers to achieve end-to-end quality in our technology and customer experience.
• Leads cross-functional product teams within an Agile Development Process (Scrum)
• Assists in identifying skill set gaps and recruiting, selection and training.         
• Mentors team members and arbitrates technical disagreements within assigned scope. 

Applies Strategic Thinking

• Ensures all work within assigned scope stays true to higher-level requirements, architectural context and designs.
• Demonstrates initiative, creativity, innovation to drive breakthrough product and process ideas to fruition    

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Strong Java EE programming skills
• Strong OO / Design patterns understanding
• BS or equivalent experience in software development
• Basic database knowledge
• Experience working within Agile development processes
