Job Summary:* The Database Administrator II solves advanced complex technical problems. Develops and provides solutions, procedures, standards, installation guidelines, maintenance and verification/auditing documentation of database solutions.* In Addition to database support, the Database Administrator II works well with customers and other stakeholders (Applications, Storage, Servers, Network, etc). This position is considered a career level position.
Leadership- Provides leadership and mentoring for the Database Administrator I positions including the understanding of policies, procedures and standards,* all areas of database administration, database design, implementations, updates, maintenance, support, documentation reporting , research and development for systems of medium complexity.* Maintains a professional appearance and attitude. Maintains a professional and helpful attitude towards customers.*
Design and Implementation- Provides expertise in database system design and Implementation including but not limited to database file layout, database architecture, disaster recovery and high availability technologies, analyzing and developing database solutions for basic systems based on project requirements, database security, performance tuning and software installations and configurations for systems of medium complexity.** Maintains outside technical relationships and investigates, evaluates and recommends new database performance tools. Implements third party or develops new database analysis support tools in order to analyze database performance and recommends tuning changes to enhance performance. Requires knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, database architecture and performance tuning.*
Specialties- Considered a specialist in one or more areas including but not limited to HA/DR, Replication, Performance Tuning, Security, Internal Database Architecture, Scripting and has applicable certifications.** Other specialties as defined by manager.*
Planning, Administration, Documentation and Reporting- Prioritizes work appropriately, carrying out assignments with the appropriate level of direction and completes tasks within deadlines with occasional supervision.* Monitors work progress, informing team leaders, team managers and/or customers of project status, problems or obstacles and workload problems in a timely manner with occasional supervision. Provides timely and accurate status reports with no supervision.* Enters work time in an appropriate and timely manner into applicable system with occasional supervision.** Provides accurate and up to date system, site and project documentation.* Provides appropriate documentation for scheduling of resources.* Creates and maintains system reports such as uptime, utilization and growth.
