Java Architect

The Java Architect will be responsible for building best-in-class enterprise business solutions as part of a growing and collaborative engineering team.  SolutionStream is growing rapidly and is looking for a passionate Java Architect to design and implement scalable solutions and write quality code.  As Java Architect you should have an expert level understanding of the Java programming language and its strengths and weaknesses.  You should be capable of making informed decisions about designing application architecture and be able to see the long term impact of such design decisions.  The Java Architect should be naturally very technical, and curious as you dig beneath the surface to understand how things work, why they are a certain way, and what the design trade-offs are.  You want to work with bright motivated people, contribute to technical discussions, and continue to learn more. You should have good management skills and the ability and experience to lead teams of software engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering team members
• Work with clients and engineering team members across the organization to accomplish objectives
• Use a consultative approach to understand business and technical requirements to help teams across varied groups develop and refine technical strategy and solution
• Design and implement technical infrastructure solutions

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of professional software development experience including designing and implementing  large distributed Java based enterprise applications that are scalable, reliable and highly-available
• Strong OO design skills, understanding of enterprise software design patterns and data structures
• Experience with server-side architectures and web application development utilizing Spring, Hibernate, Java/J2EE, REST/SOAP, Service Oriented Architecture
• Java and related web application engineering skills to include JSPs, Servlets, JDBC, HTML, XML, JavaScript, JSF, App Servers, Web Servers, Databases, Web Services and Development tools (Git, Maven, Eclipse)
• Good knowledge of database concepts and technologies
• Ability to work on multiple projects and be able to change direction quickly based on business drivers
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills
• Comfortable performing many roles such as Architect, Developer, Manager
• Ability to influence technologists with respect to technology direction
• BS/MS in Computer Science or related fields and/or equivalent experience
