System Administrator (Linux)

Seeking a System Administrator to work in the company's Data Center Operations (NOC) group. The Data Center is a fast-paced environment with an abundance of interesting challenges for an System Administrator. We house hundreds of production, staging, and corporate systems, storage area network, load balancers, and more in an enterprise-class data center.

The ideal Candidate will possess the following qualifications

• A BA/BS in CS, EE, CIS, MIS or Math from a four year university
• Well developed and demonstrable understanding of computer science principles, basic networking concepts (OSI network layers, TCP/IP, router, switch), system/application and services, security, authentication, Windows server platforms, IIS, AD
• OS administration experience on Win2k/2k3/2k8/Redhat/CentOS/Gentoo
• Knowledge of, or experience with, auditing and security standards such as PCI, DISA, Sarbox Section 404, SSAE 16
• Experience with MS SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Apache, IIS, NetApp SAN, SAN and other storage infrastructure, Nagios
• Experience working in a high availability and high transaction e-commerce environment and the architectures that enable the same
• Basic understanding of data center operations and best practices
• Highly organized, possess a meticulous attention to detail and comfortable working within strict operational boundaries and procedures
• Effective and precise verbal and written communication skills
• Sense of urgency and great perseverance for problem solving
• Strong analytical skills
• Base Technologies/Knowledge (Strong understanding of following):
  • DNS, UDP/TCP/IP, DHCP, ARP, NAT, IPSec, SSL, PKI, FTP, NFS, CIFS etc
• Linux:
  • Experience with RHEL/CentOS/Gentoo
  • Configuring, administrating Mail servers (Postfix, sendmail), Apache/PHP/Perl Webservers, FTP Servers, MySQL, (Oracle RAC a plus) etc
  • Working experience with BASH/Perl scripting, grep, awk, sed, tcpdump, wireshark etc.
  • Comfortable analyzing/parsing custom formatted logs
  • PHP/Ajax/jquery for light web development
• Security:
  • Experience with IPSec/VPN, SSL (HTTPS/FTP over SSL etc), PKI
  • Security packages such as Tripwire, Monit, ClamAV etc
• Networking:
  • Understanding of switches, routers, firewalls, vpn, load balancers
  • Experience working with Cisco/F5 switches/routers/firewalls/load balancers
• Monitoring/AV:
  • Setting up Enterprise Monitoring for High availability
  • Experience with Custom tailored monitoring
  • Experience with Nagios, Cacti, Munin, Tripwire, SCOM and/or other solutions
  • Experience working with Corporate Anti-Virus solutions
• Windows:
  • Experience working with IIS servers (setting up multiple websites, ACLS, SSL certs)
  • Working with Active Directory, user/group management, Windows DNS/DHCP servers
  • Working with MS SQL Database clusters
  • Working with MS Hyper-v server
  • Experience working with Altiris or other Automated deployment programs
• Hardware:
  • Experience configuring, installing, working with HP Rack/Blade Server
  • Experience configuring, installing, working with Network patch panels, switches
  • Experience configuring, installing, working with Fiber channel switches, SAN
• Backup:
  • Configure, administrate and manage backup of production systems
  • Experience working with HP LTO Backup Libraries (or equivalent)
  • Arcserve Backup Software or equivalent enterprise backup software solution
  • Off site management, retention, aging, compliance, integrity testing
• Data Center Infrastructure:
• Working with UPS systems (testing, verifying operation)
• Working with backup Generators (testing, verifying operation3.
