Network Operations Center Engineer (Day shift)


The Network Operations Center (Ops Center) is an adaptive, innovative and resilient team of engineers that provides 24/7/365 monitoring. The Ops Center provides 1st and 2nd level support for the entire firm’s Global infrastructure. This position will be charged with troubleshooting and monitoring the company's enterprise systems environment as well as Daily Operation Center task. 

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the infrastructure systems for problems including: servers (Linux, Windows), networking, storage, site and job scheduling.
  • Troubleshooting issues as they arise as well as escalation to 3rd level support personnel as needed
  • Track problem status and resolutions
  • Providing ‘remote hands’ for physical activities in data center locations at the direction of 3rd level support groups
  • Coordination of communication for support teams and the firm’s broader technical community during outages and major changes
  • Maintain NMS Network Monitoring Solutions and a variety of monitoring tools

NOC Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years working in a 24x7/365 operations environment in a technical role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in fast paced, aggressive companies
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit
  • Experience working with monitoring systems (NetXMS, Zabbix, etc.)
  • Solid UNIX experience with RedHat Linux
  • Experience working with Cisco UCS systems

Position Requirements:

  • 3-5 years experience working with Linux
  • 3-5 years experience Unix OS troubleshooting
  • 2-3 years experience working with networks
  • Basic understanding of DNS, NIS, NFS, autofs
  • Unix performance measuring tools - sar, vmstat, netstat, iostat, free, nfsstat
  • Unix networking (IP addresses, netmasks, ifconfig, bonding, netstat, ethtool, ifenslave)
  • Experience dealing with Telco’s vendors and WAN troubleshooting
  • A good understanding of troubleshooting and escalation procedures


  • VMware - Understanding of VMware Concepts (Virtual Center, ESX Host, Virtual Machines) and the ability to access Virtual Machines through Virtual Center
  • Shell Scripting (bash, sed, awk) helpful
  • Basic Windows administration knowledge
  • Basic understanding of SAN and NAS storage
  • Strong knowledge troubleshooting Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues
  • Experience with multicast applications
  • Experience working with Cisco UCS systems
  • Basic understanding of OSPF, BGP and Wireless protocols
