US based hedge fund is looking to appoint junior entry level traders for their automated trading desks in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Massachusetts.
The Firm The firm are known across the US and UK as being one of the pioneers within the electronic trading industry constantly updated their software and technology with the fast moving industry trends. The group head is now looking to bring on board junior researchers and quart traders for their offices across the US. Being given the go ahead by the board has allowed the group head to focus on bringing on board candidates with strong academic backgrounds to work for their automated trading desks across the US.
The Role Coming in at entry level you will be utilizing your educational background in modelling and research to assist in designing and deploying systematic strategies across the equities and futures markets. You will have to programer and code in functional or object orientated languages with preference going to candidates with strong C++, Java or R skills. You can expect to work alongside senior portfolio managers or traders in researching, back testing, creating execution algorithms and developing mathematical and statistical models to track trading signals. The firm have historically hired the highest caliber of candidates and taken them to senior research or senior quant roles within a very short time frame. The group head is looking to do the same with the new hires. Preferably you will come from an academic background from a top tier US institution and have a research focus whether at PhD or masters level in maths, optimisation, Combinatorics, financial econometrics, operations research, physics or financial engineering. Internships from IT or software industries are desirable and internships from finance will also be considered.
• BS/MS in Computer or Engineering or related discipline.
• Looking to build a long-term career within quantitative finance.
• Strong programming skills.
• A background in modelling or building statistical tools is desirable.
• Maths or Physics Olympiads are desirable.
