We are looking for a Database/Web Services Administrator responsible for administering mission critical databases and web services in a high availability environment with responsibility to provide 24x7 support services.
Selected candidates will be responsible for:
-Installing Oracle database engine and Oracle application server software and upgrades on IBM AIX, HP-UX, Linux and/or Windows operating systems. Applying database and web server patches as necessary.
-Administering other databases, such as SQL Server, as required.
-Creating and maintaining configuration files.
-Configuring JAVA components to enable form and content delivery.
-Installing SSL and authentication servers. Securing communications. Implementing access security including encryption.
-Monitoring growth trends for databases, and coordinating physical environment requirements with Unix and SAN Administrators.
-Configuring databases and web servers to support application software while keeping web servers compliant with defined standards. Writing and maintaining system documentation according to established standards to facilitate ongoing support and maintenance.
-Monitoring the performance of Unix based Oracle database engines.
-Implementation and execution of database backup and recovery methodologies; testing high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
-Assisting in capacity planning for new and existing databases and web services.
-Performing routine maintenance to ensure databases and web services are accessible and data is accurate.
-Providing technical support for crashes or failures by recovering database or web services and/or restoring data.
-Creating and maintaining database administration scripts using Unix shell and SQL.
-Writing and maintaining system documentation according to established standards to facilitate ongoing support and maintenance.
-Evaluating database and web management tools and providing recommendations for risks and benefits for implementation and usage.
-Flexibility to work on multiple projects concurrently and consistently meet deadlines.
-Capacity to support multiple development teams simultaneously. Providing technical support to application users and developers.
-Providing on call 24x7 support for all databases and web servers on a rotating basis.
-Ensure/implement the rigorous application of Information Security/Information Assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of Systems, Applications and/or Services (Hardware & Software).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
IAT2 jobs: SECNAV M-5239.2 DoN, Information Assurance (IA) Workforce Manual requires that all incumbents of this position possess, and maintain current, two types of certifications as follows:
IA Certification: One of the following certifications: Security+, GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP); or any one of the following higher level certifications: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Security Expert (GSE), Security Certified Network Architect (SCNA).
NEXCOM preferred certification is Security+
Technical Certification: Oracle Admin Certified Associate. Certification must be valid (not expired) as defined by the policy of the certification issuer.
Candidates without the required certification may be placed into this job, but must obtain the required certification within 6 months of appointment. NEXCOM paid training and testing will be provided in securing certification requirements.
This position is designated IT-2 (Non-critical Sensitive) in accordance with SECNAV M-5510.30 and will require a favorable Access National Agency Check and Inquiries (ANACI).
