Lead Software Engineer who wants to make a difference with the software they create, help build and inspire an Engineering Team, and put their skills to the test solving new and different technical challenges each week. The selected Lead Software Engineer will be empowered, responsible and accountable for the technical direction of their team, people who are comfortable in making decisions, experienced at getting others on board with those decisions, and confident enough to change their decision if someone else presents a better option.
*BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent, including a strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals including OO, data structures, and algorithms
*Proven technical leadership experience in a professional environment, including ownership and delivery of a sizable product or product component
*Over five years of experience developing interactive applications using Java and/or RoR - Ruby
*Mobile experience is preferred, particularly with Android platform
*Full stack development is preferred, including experience with SQL databases and multiple programming languages
*Solid exposure to unit testing and continuous integration
*Knowledge of SOAP and/or RESTful webservices is a plus
*Taste for simplicity and elegance in technical design and implementation as well as an appreciation for test driven development
*A hunger for learning.
*As part of a cross-functional agile software team, take a lead role in delivering high-performance and innovative libraries and apps *Collaborate with product owners, UX designers, and sometimes users to design, estimate, and develop robust and scalable tablet software (both on device and cloud-based)
*Work with technical operations team members to identify the appropriate metrics, monitoring and alerts are implemented to ensure features work as expected in production
*Help identify areas for improvement in our software development practices, processes, and tools.
*Ensure the team and code base follows the standards, patterns, and practices that have been defined and agreed upon.
*Mentor, lead, and provide feedback to members of the team
*Help build awareness of the company within the tech community through meetups, conferences, and open source contributions
