Job Overview

The primary focus for this position is to provide functional and/or technical expertise to solve business problems.  The position requires the ability to gather requirements, design and build software, and test and implement solutions meeting project objectives. The person will work with a project architect and/or technical lead to confirm and substantiate functional and technical designs, collaborate on class and sequence diagrams, perform peer code reviews, learn and deploy new technologies as needed, and be able to communicate development efforts and concerns with the architect and project lead.  The person will make and communicate technical decisions to their clients in a manner conveying authority.

Travel: We are looking for candidates who are open to travel, with the understanding that our goal is to keep travel to a minimum.  Many projects do not require travel.

Responsibilities

As a Java Development Consultant, you will be responsible for contributing in a team-oriented environment, prioritizing multiple tasks in order to consistently meet deadlines and solve problems creatively and analytically.  Engagements range from 100% custom application development to Enterprise Portal design and implementation, eCommerce (i.e., B2B and B2C), Mobile solutions, Enterprise Application Integration/SOA, and more. Candidate should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, a quick learner, detail-oriented and possess a high degree of initiative.  The successful candidate should be able to adapt in a dynamic and collaborative work environment where people, technologies, processes and industries can change between engagements. The candidate will be called upon to lead small teams and make independent decisions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field of study
  • Minimum 1 year of hands on experience with Java technologies
  • Object oriented development skills
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills through a variety of activities 

Candidate must have at least one of these preferred skills

  • Previous consulting experience
  • Java EE technologies (EJB, JMS, Servlet, JSP)
  • Spring Framework (dependency injection, Spring MVC, transaction management)
  • ORM experience with JPA or Hibernate
  • Relational database modeling and design 
  • Alternate JVM languages (groovy/grails, scala, etc.)
  • Front end development (CSS, JavaScript/jQuery)
  • Mobile development for iPhone, Android, HTML5, or tablets

  • Consulting Skills: Possess effective analytical skills and the ability to determine underlying meaning of analysis while developing insightful and creative conclusions; Effectively contribute to client reports, presentations, and other written communications. 
  • Business Development: Maintain an understanding of the company’s service offerings and capabilities, reference and participate in developing white papers; Be known as an outstanding professional within client situations.
  • Company Development: Understand and manage billability requirements; Participate in company activities; Contribute high-valued and reusable intellectual capital; Act on feedback received; Define, communicate and pursue personal career goals that support company objectives; Recruit individuals with similar skills and values to join Credera.
