This job is all about serving as a developer in all phases of analysis, design, implementation, testing, and integration of applications supported by Enterprise Applications and Infrastructure Services (EAIS).  You’ll collaborate with senior developers, design, develop, document, and implement application software, utilities, or client applications that support Application Development systems. You’ll work closely with business analysts and supervisory staff, to analyze and document business application requirements and provide estimates of programming effort and durations on all assigned projects. provide technical support for various systems and web based applications that are both specific to departments and also available to general campus community in support of the University's mission of instruction, research, and outreach.

 

For the programmer 4 level, if you have experience with technologies such as, client/server technologies, web technologies (XML/XSL/XSD, X/HTML, AJAX, JavaScript, CSS, Web services such as SOAP/WSDL and Rest), distributed computing concepts, application development methodologies, and networking concepts, we want you. You’ll also need experience with the Java 2 Enterprise Edition Architecture (J2EE); along with experience with Oracle RDBMS or other complex relational database management systems and principles. Of course, you’ll need to know standard programming techniques including analysis, requirements gathering, design, data collection and preparation, coding, and testing.

 

For the programmer 5 level, you’ll need the above plus experience with systems analysis and data processing skills to translate manual operations to automated processes. Additionally, experience with structured application development methodology in deploying technical solutions; utilizing other tools for design (Unified Modeling Language), application software version control and tracking (Subversion), and code migration. You’ll also need to know how to design effective databases, with referential integrity, PL*SQL, triggers, stored procedures and SQL performance tuning. (Experience with a minimum of 1 database solutions: Oracle, MySQL and Derby.)
