About the Java Software Architect Position

Seeking a highly motivated individual to manage a team of technical engineers working on a variety of projects. The team will be looking to you to provide overall prioritization and goal setting in an Agile environment as well as coordinate interdependencies with a number of different groups, including Product Management, Business Intelligence and QA. You will also be responsible for resource booking and career management and coaching for the team. You will also need to coordinate trouble-shooting of issues in our 24x7 production environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead an agile team of dedicated and highly skilled engineers within an incredibly fast-paced company
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in technology and product roadmap discussions
• Coordinate day-to-day resources working on Remilon's high-volume scalable web applications
• Enhance and foster an open, honest, communicative and innovative team work environment in the engineering department
• Pair up development of critical software components with other software engineers
• Mentor and coach team members to foster ongoing technical development
• Find simple, robust solutions to complex problems
• Become a key member and decision-maker in our top-notch engineering team

Requirements:

• 3+ years experience managing a team of developers
• 7+ years experience in Java and J2EE technologies
• Experience managing multiple software projects in their full life cycles, with a deep understanding of software development methodologies and software quality control processes
• Strong leadership and presentation skills
• Mastery of object oriented design, design patterns, data structures and multithreaded algorithms
• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux and VMWare virtualization
• Experience with front-end technologies like JSP, JSTL, JavaScript, AJAX, JQuery, etc.
• Experience with JDBC, JMS, JMX, Tomcat or Resin, Spring, Hibernate, relational d NoSQL databases, and data warehousing
• Solid knowledge of XML technologies: XSLT, XPATH, DOM, SAX, XSD
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented and strong analytical / problem solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship
• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced Groovy, XHTML, CSS, JQuery, AJAX, REST knowledge
• Experience with rich internet applications using modern java frameworks (GWT, JSF, etc.)
• Paired programming and agile development experience
• Experience with EHCache, Terracotta, Maven or Ant build scripts
• Use of Confluence or other Wiki for documentation and specifications
• JUnit or TestNG framework, JMeter, HtmlUnit, Selenium or other testing frameworks and harnesses
• Mastery of IntelliJ and/or Eclipse IDE
• Exposure to online marketing, search engine optimization and lead generation
• 5+ years direct experience in Spring and Hibernate
• 5+ years experience in relational databases, SQL query optimization and tuning (MySQL preferred)
• 2+ years experience in data warehousing design and concepts, including NoSQL databases
