Overview:

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining and implementing systems to support business operations. The position is customer facing and will involve direct
interaction with customers in a support role. The Senior Systems Engineer will also work as a mentor to other team members as well as other IT staff to help support team growth.
This is a detail oriented position and the ideal candidate will always take into account the big picture when working projects, task, and issues.
Responsibilities:

Maintenance of infrastructure to include system and application patching
Microsoft Exchange 2010 clustered environment administration
Monitor, evaluate, and solve potential hardware and software performance issues
Develop and maintain documentation related to all systems maintained by the systems engineering team, as well as assist with other teams overlapping technologies
Interact with customers to assure timely resolution to any issues that arise
Monitor, work and update tickets that come in through the help desk system
Excellent problem solving ability to provide resolution of current/future IT challenges
Administration of VMware technologies to include vSphere, ESXi, vCloud, and vShield
Active Directory Administration
After hours work is a possibility from time to time
Cross training with other team members to ensure redundancy of IT operations
Incident response to include documentation and delivering final reporting
Project management work in assisting with statements of work and project file creation.
Maintain project files by updating tasks as well as daily tracking of support efforts
Follow company policies and hold oneself to a high level of integrity

Qualifications:

10+ years of IT experience. Preferably in IT operations, systems, and or networking
Education: Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
Expert experience with Microsoft Exchange, AD, VMware and related services
VMware and/or Microsoft certified
Thorough understanding of enterprise backup solutions
Some Microsoft SQL administration beneficial
Disaster Recovery implementation experience preferred
