Lead AIX Systems Engineer
Fulltime: Salary + benefits and 30% bonus potential
•Responsible for engineering, design, and administration of AIX and other Unix operating systems. Manage complex AIX environments running latest pSeries technologies such as LPARs, Micro-partitioning, Virtual IO.
•Design, document, and develop the standards for server hardware and software.
•Participates in site preparation for complex server installations.
•Performs application integration to ensure that all software, hardware and middleware components operate properly together.
•Provides third level platform support for all AIX environments.
•Provides direction or support to development, QA, and project management staff.
•Directs resources to manage all aspects of the AIX platform in all environments; including multiple vendors for production environments.
•Engineer and design security solutions that meet all security standards and requirements that satisfy governance principals and best practices.
•Reviews and approves External Service Providers prototypes that demonstrate systems solution alternatives.
•Leads technical requirements analysis and reviews technical specification for completeness.
•Reviews technical input to Statement of Work for External Service Providers.
•Reviews and approves the analysis, design of systems for medium to high complexity systems problems according to specifications and standards
•Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in IT.
•7+ years of progressive experience in engineering and design capacities.
•Strong background in AIX Infrastructure with an emphasis in p-Series virtualization and micro-partitioning.
•Proficient in managing multiple technical vendors.
•Demonstrated expertise in the following disciplines: AIX system administration, performance tuning, HACMP clustering, LPAR, Micropartitioning, current Storage technologies, solving complex problems related to Unix/Linux operating systems, Server hardening, Data Management, Networking, SOX and PCI regulatory requirements.
•Working knowledge of other Unix operating systems such as Solaris, Linux, etc.
•Practical experience in infrastructure technologies relevant for the support of application development.
•Broad knowledge and high technical expertise across all components of Network Architectures, devices, and protocols.
•Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems in multi-vendor environment.
•Proficient in written and verbal communications.
•Demonstrated expertise of server hardware and software configurations, functional design, networking protocols, and data analysis.
•Work flexible hours with occasional after hours support.
•Demonstrates advanced understanding of business process implications underlying critical systems.
