Ruby on Rails Developer
Clearance required: Top Secret SCI with favorable polygraph (TS/SCI w/POLY+)
Location: Reston/Herndon area of Virginia
This position requires candidates to currently hold a TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance. Due to the classified nature of the program we are unable to advertise the specific polygraph. Details will be discussed with qualified candidates.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Web developer will provide situational awareness and process improvement through a combination of custom Ruby on Rails web application development and third-party software integration. The candidate will work in a dynamic and agile environment with quick response times. The position provides opportunities to creatively work with new and innovative technologies, such as many advanced online visualization and geospatial tools. The candidate will have the opportunity to work both independently and within a team environment, depending on project scope. Each developer is required to regularly brief the status of pending projects and system status. Also, the candidate will create and maintain relevant software documentation, as defined by the office's internal processes.
Typically requires a BS in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field or equivalent, and 7 to 9 years of related work experience.
Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph.
Object Oriented experience with Java, C#, C++, and/or .NET.
Ruby on Rails development experience or willingness to learn.
System Administration experience with Linux/Apache.
Willingness to learn new technologies and passionate when it comes to making technical breakthroughs and solving complex problems.
Good communication practices with both written and verbal skills.
Self-starter, ability to work independently and in teams.
Working knowledge of web technologies and tools (HTML, Flash, CSS, AJAX, SSL, HTTP, FTP, IIS, TomCat).
Understanding of advanced Design Patterns.
Experience in programming Microsoft Windows operating system.
Database skills in SQL Server, mySQL, and/or Oracle.
