Duties and Specifications:
a Ensure the stability and quality of the entire digital media ecosystem with expertise in end-to-end File Based (Adaptive, Progressive) and HDSDI based workflows. a Solid understanding of acquisition (File Based, Satellite, IP Encapsulated), transformation (Media and Metadata) and distribution (CDN, File Based, Satellite, IP Encapsulate) methodologies. a Provide Root Cause Analysis of digital media workflow anomalies in a high-pressure SLA driven environment. a Proactive management and diagnosis of media service degradation using internal and vendor provided tools. a Responsible for escalating issues through change management procedures with detailed proposed implementation and back-out plans. a Responsible for documenting Knowledge Base entries of causes and resolutions. a Interpret, correlate, and isolate alarm/soft conditions. a Interpret video and audio quality with IneoQuest and JDSU. a During live events, validate signal continuity/stability checklist, and make sure all elements are within specification from acquisition to distribution. a Participate in User Acceptance Testing and Operation Readiness Testing scenarios. a Interface with third party service vendors through escalation requirements. a Responsible for documenting and tracking severities through internal service desk ticketing systems. a Generate reports, analyze data and track performance on a given platform.
Skills and Specifications:
a Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve network related outages with understanding all layers of the OSI model. a Understanding of CDN Selection Mechanisms and Redirection Technologies. a Understanding of Accelerated and Secure Transport Protocol technologies like Aspera, Signiant, RiverBed, Rsync over SSH, SCP, SFTP. a Understanding of Web Server technologies Windows (IIS) and Linux (Apache, Nginx). a Understanding of URL Rewriting mechanisms (MOD_REWRITE). a Ability to write shell scripts based on AWK, SED, GREP. a Team player with ability to communicate across functional organizations. a Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. a Exposure to HDSDI and File Based tools such as: Miranda iControl, HDSDI Routers and IP enabled HDSDI router control panels, SEMS and Play Out Servers. a Understanding of RFC 2616 and RFC 6585 based HTTP STATUS Codes at minimum. a Understanding of RFC 2616 BytRange Requests at minimum. a Knowledge of MPEG2 and MPEG4 progressive and adaptive bit rate technologies. a Ability/willingness to do shift work on a 24x7x365 basis including holidays and weekends. a Independent decision-making skills, Strong analytical and oral and written communication skills. a Knowledge of video compression, encoding, encrypting and rights management techniques. a Experience with CDN technology: Akamai, Limelight, Level3, Edge Cast. a Experience with packaging encryption and digital rights management technologies. a Experience with HMAC Tokenization. a Experience with SHA512, MD5 Hashing techniques.
Education and Qualifications:
a Minimum: Associate technical degree. a Preferred: BA in Engineering or Technology field. a 5+ years of experience within digital media, cable and satellite industries. a Minimum: 5 years experience administering multiple, web-based applications.
