Configuration Management Architect is a technical lead position within the IT infrastructure services group counted on as the expert in IT Service Management processes and procedures specifically Configuration Management. This individual will need to have a strong process background along with a solid understanding of the technology domains used within IT in order to support the overall Configuration Management process. Key Responsibilities: • Responsible for design, implementation, and execution of the Configuration Management process within Service Management. • Work closely with Architects from other Service Management process areas (e.g. Asset Management, Change Management, Incident Management) to ensure successful process integration. • Work closely with the Configuration Management Manager on overall process improvement. • Backs up the Configuration Management Manager when needed • Keep current with technology changes from both a hardware and software perspective • Assess impact to the CMS data model and tool as new CIs/Attributes/relationships are introduced into the environment • Assess impact of bringing federated data sources into the CMS (Ex: Active Directory, HR Info, Monitoring data, etc.) • Configure CMS tool and populate CMS with new CI/attribute/relationship information as CMS scope changes • Configure CMS tool to populate CMS data as additional federated sources of data are brought into scope • Configure Discovery and Inventory tools to ensure useful and accurate information is returned and maintained in the CMS • Define and build new standard reports Key Results Areas: • The Configuration Management Architect will provide technical lead support during project execution for projects defined during the Configuration Management assessment project that has been approved for 2014 (e.g. team organization, process documentation, and process automation through the configuration and rollout of the CA – Service Desk tool and supporting modules). Successful project execution will mature the overall configuration management process area to a CMM (Capability Maturity Model) level 3 • Following completion of the IT Configuration Management project execution phase, the Configuration Management Architect will continue leading the Configuration Management team from a technical perspective responsible for day-to-day process execution, process improvement, and CA – Service Desk tool configuration and support.
