Job Duties

The Senior Java/.NET programmer develops scalable, well-performing enterprise level applications and code for the OHIA Informatics core. Responsibilities include development, coding, testing, building, deploying, and debugging software or enhancements for critical enterprise applications in a diverse technical environment. This position may include both development and support responsibilities so the ability to handle multiple tasks with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability is critical. Frequent interaction with customers and other groups is normal, so excellent communication and teamwork is required. Under the general supervision of the Manager of BI Architecture, the senior Java/.NET programmer performs a variety of tasks to deliver enterprise solutions that exceed customer expectations in content, accuracy, reliability and performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, code, test, deploy, and debug new software or enhancements to existing software according to best-practice principles
Enhance existing .NET web services and applications
Create new web services and applications using Java, servlets, JSF, spring, JUnit, Hibernate, Log4j or other logging frameworks
Create new applications which interface with SAP XI 3.1/4.x web services
Research and develop "Big Data" solutions using technologies such as Hadoop, SAP HANA, Oracle Exadata
Participate in support rotation, including answering questions, fulfilling requests, resolving system issues, etc.
Document and maintain code assets
Develop and test Java and .NET code assets
Perform unit and performance tests related to code assets
Adapt existing code assets and procedures to accommodate changes in source systems and new business user requirements
Standardize code and promote reusability of code assets
Maintain clean, organized, and well-documented code using source control tools such as Subversion, CVS, and TFS
Follow project management guidelines as needed for both traditional project management as well as Agile/Scrum methodologies
Work with technical staff and other team members to resolve production application issues

Job Qualifications

Essential skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the job:

Enterprise-level Java application development programming experience; experience should include architecture, design, development, testing, build, implementation, and post-implementation support
Experience developing secure, high availability applications
Excellent oral and written communication
Proven ability to write clear and concise technical documents
Proven ability to clearly document processes and procedure
Proven ability to complete tasks or project assignments with minimal supervision
Must be adaptable, flexible, organized, detail oriented, work well in a team environment
Proven customer service skills

Practical experience and knowledge of the following technologies and tools:
Java: Servlets, JSF, Spring, JUnit, Hibernate, Log4j or other logging framework
SQL Development (Oracle)
Web: HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML, jQuery, JSON, Ajax
Application Servers: Tomcat preferred
IDE: Eclipse, Visual StudioSource control tools (Subversion, or other)

Exposure to the following technologies and tools preferred:
Reporting software (Business Objects)
Test management software
HadoopIn-memory data warehousing appliances, such as HANA or ExadataScrum
