Our client is looking for an Optical Display Engineer to optimize and characterize the optical properties of display technologies that are used in our client's award- winning products. This individual will serve as a focal point in developing, testing, optimizing, and implementing optical display performance for the company's existing and new display products.



Job Summary:

Analyze the trade-offs between design, process, optical performance, and implementation feasibility. Work with display optical component suppliers for use of materials, design, and processes to meet display and system design goals. Support in house manufacturing groups as need for related to optical display test and performance issues as required. Work with cross-functional team on the display architecture, prototyping, and system integration. Support the display roadmap with technology. Conduct and evaluate display offerings from strategic suppliers on display optical design and performance characterization.



Essential Functions:

Demonstrated experience in design, development, characterization and optimization of optical performance of display technologies.

Demonstrated experience using laboratory optical measurement devices such as photometers, reflectometers, and ELDIM Fourier optics systems.

In-depth understanding of display technology, particularly single and tiled LCD Projection display both front and rear design optical performance trade-offs, including optical design, viewing angle, color balance and white point management, gamma and dimming control, visual performance and artifacts; and characterization metrics.

Demonstrated ability of using analytical thinking and systematic method to conduct investigation and problem-solving.

Ability to create optical, imaging system specifications.

Lab work includes prototype assembly and test.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills are required.

Experience of working in a display company that has developed and manufactured display products is preferred.



Qualifications:

Preference given to those with a M.S. degree in Physics, Optics, Material Science or EE, plus a minimum 6 years experience or a B.S degree with an appropriate level of experience.

Preference given to demonstrated use of optical modeling design tool Zemax.

Competent user MS Visual Basic application program.

Competent user of MS Office Suite.

Basic EE experience.
