The qualified individual will perform critical monitoring and incident/problem management functions for production database operations running on UDB version 9.1 and higher and DB/2. This individual will provide operational support of the production, UAT, and Test environments, lead development of architectural proposals, define standards and best practices, and contribute to decisions regarding the strategic direction of technology management in the database space.
The qualified candidate will assert him/herself into complex project assignments where he/she will represent the team in all dialogue and decisions around the deployment and/or management of database environments. The individual will make presentations to a broader audience. The individual will also take a role in the definition of operational best practices. To succeed at this function requires the individual to present subject-matter expertise on the UDB and DB/2 RDBMS platform with real world experience performing field operations support. UDB compression implementation and operations knowledge. Experience with Quest tools on UDB is a plus.
Experience: At least 5 years supporting RDBMS platforms in production support setting At least 5 years performance tuning experience At least 5 years application development Advanced SQL language programming familiarity Scripting skill Experience with Tivoli Event Center is a plus
Competencies/Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills Must be flexible and able to work in a team environment or alone with same degree of integrity and professionalism throughout.
Knowledge: Strong knowledge of UNIX, V/OS and Windows O/S, as well as some scripting experience Strong knowledge of UDB and DB/2. Understanding of Siebel Application Database Prior experience with development of KornShell scripts
Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
