UNIX Engineering (Solaris/Linux) position requirement (Infrastructure Engineer):


Proven experience with Solaris and Linux administration and Operating Systems management with the following focused areas below:

• At least 5+ Years of hands on experience

• Must have working knowledge of Solaris version 8, 9 and 10 - minimum 6+ years

• Experience with Solaris 11 is a plus

• Experience with Solaris LDOMs (Oracle VM server) and Solaris 10 zones is a must - minimum 2 years

• Working knowledge of Veritas Volume Manager and Solaris Volume Manager is required – minimum 3 years

• Knowledge of Veritas clustering for Oracle RAC and other applications is required - minimum 2 years

• Need to have knowledge of installing, configuring and maintaining of Sun/Solaris HW

• Must be able to performSolaris Packages and RPM maintenance

• Knowledge of Jump Start/Kick Start server along with network installation a must – minimum 1 year
• ZFS knowledge is required – minimum 1 year

• Any knowledge or experience with Solaris x64 implementation is a plus

• Oracle/Sun Hardware experience is required (candidate needs to provide a list of models they are worked with)
• Additional hardware experience with HP blade servers is a plus
• Previous experience working in a Data Center environment is a plus as candidate will be required to help run cables when needed

• Experience with Linux (Red Hat 5 and 6) is required

• Must be able to participate in patch management

• Responsible for troubleshooting servers and OS problems

• Any working knowledge of DTrace and SystemTap will be highly preferred
• Virtualization and Consolidation experience is required

• System migration experience is a plus

• Knowledge of VMware Guest image and template creation is a plus

• Knowledge of Amazon Machine Images (AMI) using RHEL 5 and 6 is a plus

• Knowledge of Jump start/Kick start server along with network installation a must

• Shell scripting knowledge as a Solaris/Linux administrator is required

• Understands boot process and run levels, paging and swapping, inter-process communication, functions of devices and device drivers and file system concepts

• Experience with external storage (SAN/NAS) is required from server - configuration and administration prospective

• Knowledge of FC HBA for external storage is required

• Working knowledge of Power Path is a plus

• Understanding of networking is required

• Working knowledge of IPMP is a plus

• Working knowledge of bonding is a plus

• Working knowledge of best practices for backup and restore of UNIX servers is needed

• Knowledge of capacity monitoring and management of UNIX servers is a plus

• Any high availability concept/knowledge will be a big plus (i.e. Local Datacenter HA or DR across multiple DC.)

• Knowledge of proxy service, naming services (LDAP, DNS, Active Directory, etc.) is needed
