CAPACITY SERVICES SYSTEMS ENGINEER - CAS is seeking to hire a System Engineer - Capacity Services.  This individual will provide a moderate amount of service support through the day-to-day operation of IT services, performing service management through the fulfillment of service requests, incident management through the restoration of normal service operation following incidents caused by known errors or problems and problem management to minimize the adverse effect on the business of incidents caused by simple to moderately complex errors in the infrastructure.  They are diligent about working to proactively prevent the occurrence of incidents.  In addition, their responsibilities include performing change management according to IT Change Management policies and procedures minimizing business risk and assuring intended impact of change; participating as a team member of projects of all sizes including technology evaluations, implementation and refreshes and leading small sized projects.  This engineer will take direction from management and senior team members.

 Other essential tasks:

• Monitors server performance metrics to detect actual and potential exceptions, and takes appropriate actions to avert service incidents resulting from capacity shortfalls
• Measures and quantifies capacity demands using appropriate tools and techniques, and creates server performance and utilization reports
• Specifies server configurations that meet documented performance requirements for small to moderate sized systems
• Obtains quotes for server hardware and software, assembles acquisition documentation,  executes orders and follows through on delivery, implementation, and turn over to customers
• Keeps accurate and complete inventories of server-related configuration items

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline
• 5 - 7 years collecting, analyzing server performance metrics and specifying server hardware and software to meet defined requirements
• Experience sizing the capacity demands of application software
• Experience obtaining quotes and preparing purchase documentation
• Outstanding communications and inter-personal skills
