System Engineer – CIROPS
CAS has an immediate opening for a System Engineer supporting the current processes and frameworks that are used by the CIROPS (Content Information Retrieval Operations) team. Working with the SPOT (Search Platform of Tomorrow) developers to help establish configurations of software/hardware for their development efforts this individual will attend development meetings to gain understand of upcoming changes to the environment and configuration. They will support deployments/configuration of software and hardware that support the development, functional testing, load testing and production environments. This also includes triaging issues in these environments. The CIROPS System Engineer actively participates in production and change management procedures including after-hours and on-call support; helps to develop tools and processes that allow the operational staff to effectively operate the system and look for ways to help automate the flow of the configuration changes through the different environments; and, provides/updates documentation on these tools and processes. Must be able to work effectively with others on the team as well as across project and organizational boundaries to accomplish common objectives.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Chemistry or related discipline.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in UNIX/LINUX administration.
- Operational experience with HADOOP/Solr applications is desired.
- Experience with cluster technology is desired.
- Understanding of JBoss Application Servers is desired.
- Basic UNIX tools and script development including use of Perl, KSH
- Basic understanding of Git and puppet for process automation.
- High quality standards and excellent attention to detail
- Is a strong team player and has good communication skills
