Telvent, a part of Schneider Electric, currently has an outstanding opportunity for a motivated individual to assume the role Java Web Application Developer in our Omaha, NE office. This individual will have the opportunity to develop new and maintaining existing front end products using various web technologies in the Java environment. This individual will join a team focused on the enhancements and improvements of existing products as well as the creation and design of new products for the refined fuels development team. Responsibilities
- Participating in the specification and design phase
- Prototype, code and test components for applications
- Partner with QA throughout the testing phase
- Prepare and maintain documentation
- Support operational department and production systems when needed
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by Technical lead or Development Manager
Requirements
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
- 3+ years* solid web application design and development in a Java environment
- JavaScript, CSS and Dynamic HTML experience
- JSP and HTML/XHTML experience
- Knowledge of development lifecycle methodologies
- Desire for overall design and forward thinking
- Understanding of project management and estimating
- Skilled in analyzing product requirements and designing solutions accordingly
- Ability to work both independently and in a team to achieve design and delivery goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Added Skills
- Experience working with MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle preferred
- Experience with Struts, Tiles, Apache Tomcat and Java web services preferred
- Database design experience using a major RDBMS is a strong plus
- Experience using web services to communicate with applications running in a client browser is a strong plus
- Experience using web services to communicate with applications running on the Microsoft .NET platform is a strong plus
