Senior Systems Analyst

Telvent, a part of Schneider Electric, currently has an outstanding opportunity for a motivated individual to assume the role of a Sr.Systems Analyst in our Hawthorne, NY location.

The Sr. System Analyst duties are to make sure that all of the various systems and infrastructures at the HVTMC are fully operational.* The Sr. Systems Analyst shall work on the various ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) projects and ensure that system integration is completed and fully operational. The Sr. System Analyst will be responsible for a team one Systems Administrator and two Field Technicians. The Sr. System Analyst will be the point of contact with NYSDOT and the Operations group on all system related projects and tasks. The candidate will have to demonstrate strong communication skills as well as good leadership.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the entire ITS network: Switches, routes, firewall and VPN access.
- Planning, developing and implementing the HVTMC systems operations budget, obtaining competitive prices from suppliers, to ensure cost effectiveness.
- Scheduling upgrades and security backups of hardware and software systems.
- Researching and installing new systems.
- Ensuring the smooth running of all HVTMC systems, including anti-virus software, print services and File Transfer Protocol(FTP) servers.
- Ensuring that software licensing laws are adhered to.
- Providing secure access to the network for remote users.
- Ensuring the security of data from internal and external attack.
- Providing users with appropriate support and advice.
- Managing crisis situations, which may involve complex technical hardware or software problems;
- Mentoring and training HVTMC systems support staff.
- Weekly coordination meetings with the client and the operation group.
- Backups of system software files after major software upgrades.
- Network configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting including firewall configurations.
- Database administration maintenance plans, backups, replication, performance monitoring etc
- Commerical Off The Shelf(COTS) and hardware Vendor coordination.
- Direct contact with client personnel in the case of system outages on a 24/7 basis, as well as direct contact with Telvent USA personnel to ensure all system administrators/leads are aware of all systems issues.
- Documentation of daily, weekly, and monthly operations and maintenance tasks, outlining a standard operating procedure necessary for maintaining each system to provide aggressive preventative maintenance.
- Asset inventory shall be maintained for each system. The inventory list will contain asset information including all hardware specifications, serial numbers, third party support lifetimes, etc. as well as information pertaining to system utilities such as ISP and Telco information.
- Maintenance of System Architecture documentation, including all IP information, network diagrams, rack diagrams, server configurations, etc.
- Maintenance and updates of the disaster and recovery systems currently deployed as well as maintenance and updates of disaster and recovery systems that will be deployed in the future.
- Regular coordination meeting with the client, operations group and contractors.***

Requirements:

- Experience in deploying virtualized environments
- 6+ years of systems engineering or systems analyst experience
- 10+ years overall systems delivery experience
- CCNA certification or above would be a plus
- Expertise in real time data communication systems
- Knowledge of advanced networking troubleshooting
- Tenacity to overcome short term challenges
- Excellent communication, team building and leadership skills
- Keen interest in contemporary systems engineering practices
- Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills a must

Education
- BSc degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
