Schneider Electric Smart Infrastructure currently has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to assume the role of Corporate Senior Accountant for its office in Northwest Houston. This qualified individual will assist in supervising the accounting team, involvement in the external and internal audit process, reviews and reconciles general ledger accounts, post journal entries, and prepare financial statements and more.To be considered, submit your application to requisition 245 at http://us-careers.schneider-electric.com.

The Senior Accountant will focus on core accounting processes, as well as reporting and inter-company accounting. This person will be a self-starter who possesses an attention to detail and solid communication abilities, and will have technology, organizational and analytical skills. They will work to ensure adherence to US GAAP as well as to the corporate standards and requirements. Typical duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Maintains financial records for Telvent North America companies by performing monthly analysis or reconciliations affecting balance sheets, certain income statements and general ledger accounts, which includes, but not limited to, fixed assets, intangibles cost and amortization, accruals, cost allocations and billbacks, bank account reconciliation, prepayments, etc.
- Full charge bookkeeping responsibility
- Prepares and directs the preparation of audits, financial statements and varied fiscal reports.
- Assists in the employee evaluation process, counsels employees and effectively recommends initial discipline and other personnel decisions. Provides input into goal setting process for the section.
- Plans, organizes, assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned professional and technical support staff.
- Prepare and maintain monthly journal entries, and general ledger accounts. Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable). Enters data into computer system using defined computer programs (SAP)
- Reviews accounting documents to ensure accuracy of information and calculations and makes or directs correcting entries.

This individual will work to ensure accurate and timely reporting of results to corporate management and provide guidance through formal and informal communication designed to maximize individual and organizational results. Some examples of specific duties are as follows:
- Develops and prepares operational and financial reports that assist the Accounting Manager and Vice President of Accounting in the analysis of operations.
- Ensures accurate and timely reporting of results to corporate business management.
- Assists in the oversight of business standards and controls through financial reviews, and formal internal and external audits.
- Develops advanced-level spreadsheets to analyze current operations and model projected financial results
- Will assist in the annual financial and operational plans through the budget process for multiple locations.
- Will work with accounting for business units, rolled up into legal entities, then rolled up into corporate structure.
- Emphasis in the following areas will be viewed favorably: consolidation of multiple entities, revenue recognition, budgeting, tax accounting, hedge accounting, financial statement preparation and SOX compliance. A preference is placed on an advanced degree, CPA certification and Public Accounting experience.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor*s Degree in Accounting (must have)
- CPA with prior audit experience strongly preferred
- Four-five + year*s general accounting/bookkeeping and progressive experience including financial statement preparation, consolidations, budgeting and SOX
- Demonstrated organization skills
- Detailed oriented
- Analytical thinker and an effective problem solver
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Self-motivated, resourceful and accountable
- Proficiency in Excel
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to manage, direct or instructs junior staff
- Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles
- Spanish language skills (strongly preferred)
- Experience in percentage of completion and software revenue recognition accounting is a plus
