General Description:

• The position integrates with network operations at 3 different data centers with 5 different landscapes throughout the US, and uses Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) based processes.
• The Technology Consultant III position within the Availability Management team will provide business support by ensuring that the infrastructure is able to provide a sustained level of availability. HP Software experience is a must with administration skills in configuration and maintenance. Experience with BMC Software is a plus. The Technology Consultant III will work closely with the customer to determine monitoring needs, event response, and escalation procedures.
• The Technology Consultant III will engage with the Incident Management and Problem Management teams to provide forensic information on incidents and to avoid unplanned outages. The Technology Consultant III may interact with vendors and clients on needs, service levels, and products; and will be expected to follow established procedures. The Technology Consultant III will contribute to developing and maintaining team work, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Additionally, the following duties are expected:

a)Typical Duties:

• Administer and maintain the HP Operations Manager (OM/Omi/BSM).
• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain application and infrastructure event monitors and rules
• Analyze logs and other system information in order to identify trends and suggest corrective or improvement actions to be taken
• Provide detail reporting and analysis of key performance indicators and other metrics
• Seek out opportunities for process improvement and make recommendations to management
• b) Required Skills and/or Product Knowledge:
• HP Operations Manager (OM/Omi/BSM) experience
• HP Network Node Manager (NNMI) experience
• HP SiteScope (SiS) experience
• HP Business Availability Center (BAC) experience
• Event correlation and root-cause analysis code and logic development
• Custom policy development based on technical requirements
• SNMP Knowledge (MIBs, polling, trapping)
• Windows/Linux/UN!X administration experience
• Perl and VBS scripting experience
• Excellent communications skills

c)The following skills and experience are preferred:

Desirable skills include the following:

• HP DDMI and UCMDB.
• Experience with other enterprise monitoring tool suites
• Understanding of IP network infrastructures
• Technical experience with distributed systems, shared infrastructure, Web-based applications. This includes Sun Microsystems, EMC, WebSphere, WebLogic, SiteMinder, Windows, and RHEL.

d)Travel requirements: Travel requirements to client locations are estimated at ___5__%.

General requirements include extensive use of Microsoft Word; along with potential use of Excel, Access, and/or PowerPoint if applicable. Superior verbal and written communication; attention to detail; and strong organizational skills.

            Experience in an ITIL environment is preferred.
