General Description:
This is an E-Commerce operations support position located in a Web hosting co-location production operations environment. This Windows server administrator will provide technical support in a production operations environment, and have thorough knowledge of the Windows server operating system and HP hardware. This person will perform complex operational tasks that include monitoring of various types of applications used in a web infrastructure, analysis of the root cause of any problem issues, resolution of any/all hardware/software application problems, and escalation of any irresolvable issues to the vendor as necessary. This work is in a 7X24X365 data center located in Richmond, VA. Normal shift is Monday – Friday 8AM to 5PM. On-call, nights, and weekend work should be expected.
- · Typical Duties:
- · Support production based problems/incidents.
- · Maintain and update hardware, operating system and infrastructure software.
- · Update and maintain written procedures and work instructions.
- · Record and keep problem, incident, and change tickets up to date.
- · Required Skills and/or Product Knowledge:
- · Qualified applicants will hold a Bachelor's degree in a related area and have at least 5 years of experience in the field
- · Knowledge of Windows server administration - Server 2003/2008
- · Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- · Implementation and administration of Active Directory
- · Administration of Window group policies
- · Implementation and administration of Windows security best practices
- · Patch and signature deployment
- · Server deployment rollout
- · Microsoft DNS
- · Working knowledge of production Web hosting environments
- · Knowledge of TCP/IP troubleshooting
- · Working knowledge of Internet protocols, e.g., DNS, LDAP, Telnet, SMTP, SNMP
- · Experience in developing documentation such as procedures and work instructions
- · Excellent attention to detail with results-oriented approach to all tasks
- · Good Troubleshooting skills
- · Ability to work effectively in a team and provide good customer service
· The following skills and experience are preferred:
- · Remedy (Action Request) Trouble Ticketing
- · VMWare VSphere ESXi
- · Monitoring software (HP OM/BSM, BMC Patrol, Big Brother, etc.)
- · Scripting experience with Perl, Python, Windows batch, VBasic, etc.
- · Veritas Volume Manager and NetBackup, Veritas (Foundation Suite, VCS, Global Clustering)
- · EMC Symmetrix, DMX, and SRDF
- · Hitachi USP-V SAN storage
- · Remedy (Action Request) Trouble Ticketing
- · IDS (host based and network based), particularly with Enterasys Dragon
- · Firewalls - Cisco PIX ,Nokia/Checkpoint & NetScreen Cisco switches, routers, V-lans, trunking (SA-level network exposure)
