Prestigious Fortune 500 Company is currently seeking a Websphere Server and Portal Architect. Candidate will provide a stable, predictable, and scalable environment for the delivery of a variety of J2EE Platform solutions. This role includes providing leadership and project level management in the planning, evaluation, design, development, implementation, operation, and control of large, complex J2EE Platform capabilities . This person will initiate direct communication with a wide range of client, supplier, regulatory, application, architectural, and systems personnel. The Platform Engineer will ensure conformance to established system architecture, methods, regulations, standards and practices and participate in their creation. Also, participate in long range planning and ensure those plans are consistent with business objectives for resiliency, disaster tolerance, and regulatory compliance. Help develop the J2EE Platform vision for the organization, define projects and execute them to achieve that vision. The Platform Engineer will also be responsible for creating effective J2EE Platform designs from functional requirements in a large enterprise data center environment which includes Highly virtualized systems that operate in conjunction other platforms such as Server, Storage, and Network.  The Platform Engineer will develop Operational processes to address enhancements to the capabilities and periodic maintenance disciplines. Design and lead a holistic approach to manage the J2EE Platform service capability while standardizing on hardware and software solutions. Provide leadership to other engineering staff in the development of capabilities and their support while adhering to architectural guidelines.  Improve documentation, templates and processes. The Platform Engineer must be able to analyze and problem solve complex technical issues with minimal supervision, and work within a team environment while communicating well to a diverse set of colleagues.
 
Responsibilities:

1. This Platform Engineer will provide leadership to junior level J2EE Platform engineering staff with emphasis on Budget Management, Performance Management, and employee Development
2. Provide leadership and project level management in the planning, evaluation, design, development, implementation, operation, and control of large, complex J2EE Platform solutions.
3. Help set the J2EE Platform service vision for the organization, define projects and execute them to achieve that vision.
4. Create an effective designs from functional requirements in a large enterprise data center environment which includes virtualized systems integrating with other platforms.
5. Provide leadership in the resolution of complex problems and interface with support organizations within the organization and the supplier community
 
Qualifications:

1. Advanced J2EE Platform experience. WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Portal Server, Windows Server, and Unix/Linux Server expereince required.  Other J2EE Platform experience a plus
2. Advanced experience with standardized processes for capability development and lifecycle
3. Advanced J2EE Platform administration skills
4. Strong desire for creativity and innovation; strong technical leadership abilities. Proven ability to maintain leading edge skills in a rapidly changing environment.
5. Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation), organizational and collaboration skills. Expert knowledge and development of diagrams and methodologies using Microsoft Visio and PowerPoint applications. Extensive project management skills and experience. Demonstrated ability to apply new technology concepts to a real working environment.
6. Leadership skills including employee development, budget management, performance management.

Computer Science degree required
