As a reflection of our continued domestic and international expansion of  a Global Constellation, the DNS system that handles .COM, .NET, ROOT and many other TLD's, we are expanding our team of systems administrators. This position is responsible for the 24x7 support of mission-critical services supporting  Global Constellation, the most transactive system on the planet handling, on average, over 60 Billion transactions a day. We prize engineering professionals equipped with great technical skills and attitudes that motivate those around them. Because of the geographical dispersement of our data centers, travel (about 30%) is essential to this position. Team members are often called upon to work at locations both within and outside the United States and must be able to travel freely for periods of time. 

The candidate for this position will need to: 
Acquire thorough understanding of name resolution services, applications, and operational environments. 
Install, maintain, and configure production, staging, quality assurance, and develop environments to support  name resolution services. Environments include servers, operating systems, storage devices, and applications software. 
Coordinate with other technical staff to implement systems and software. 
Perform daily operations support functions, including problem isolation and resolution. 
Document processes, procedures, configurations, and deployment plans. 
Provide critical technical leadership in the areas of operational process and change management. 
Interface with engineering and customer service organizations. 
Regularly report progress to management. 
Participate in an on-call rotation. 
Travel (up to 30%, domestic and international). Must be able to acquire a US passport 

Our ideal candidate will have a unique blend of impeccable technical skills, a desire to lead within a team environment and the ability to multi-task and work independently within a dynamic operational environment. We need effective communicators who can work within a matrixed environment and represent the client effectively to customers and other external resources. A high level of technical credibility is essential for success. Some desired attributes include: 
5+ years of experience administering systems in a large production operations environment. 
Hands-on experience/knowledge with DNS and BIND a plus. 
Strong experience with Linux in mission-critical computing environments of 500+ nodes. FreeBSD knowledge is a plus. 
Strong experience with automating production processes and procedures. Experience with Kickstart and Cobbler is a plus. 
Exposure to configuration management tools like Puppet or Chef 
Proficiency with UNIX utilities and scripting (Perl, shell, python, etc). 
Hands-on experience with TCP/IP networking, including Ethernet, IP addressing & subnetting, routing, and network troubleshooting. 
BA/BS degree in an applicable discipline
