- Engineer Structural 3
A technical leadership position in machinery dynamics to provide the following functions: Management support to maintain, improve and develop Department machinery dynamic analysis and predictive capabilities; Work closely with managers and engineers to ensure the technical accuracy of design analysis projects; Propose and manage Department machinery dynamics IR&D projects; Interact with the technical community and other Northrop Grumman Divisions in the area of dynamics and related subjects. Perform machinery dynamic analysis. The applicant must have: A solid understanding of structureborne and airborne vibration theory and analysis methods (FEA, BEM and SEA); Experience in performing and reviewing structural vibration analysis of complex equipment and support structures; Knowledge of ship engine room equipment and vibration environment; Knowledge in the latest theories for performing mid-range vibration analyses; Experience in performing and reviewing the development of finite element and boundary element models for low frequency and mid frequency vibration analysis, and statistical energy analysis models for mid and high frequency vibration analysis; Should also have the capability to status project schedules and budgets using earned value.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
The applicant must have: a Masters degree with an emphasis in vibration, structural dynamics and acoustics with a minimum of two years' working experience; Experience using Matlab and Visual Basic is required; Experience in structural dynamics testing and mechanical design is strongly recommended; Strong writing and oral communication skills, technical presentation skills, technical leadership abilities and motivation to pursue technology development.
