  • Network Communications Engineer 1


This is a full time Network Engineering position reporting to the Manager - (fill in SITE) Enterprise Data Center, within the ECSN-Enterprise Compute Storage and Network Tower of ESS - IT Solutions. The successful candidate will have demonstrated performance in working in a fast paced environment while delivering a quality work product and having positive customer satisfaction. Flexible hours are required, with a willingness to work weekends/off hours as needed for planned work or unplanned break/fix support. Candidate should possess good interpersonal and leadership skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a strong willingness to learn. Job responsibilities Entry-Level experience as Network Engineer Work in a high impact, highly structured environment Work to deliver highest level of uptime and service to the customer base of the EDC, while balancing project deliverables.

* Provide network engineering support primarily to the (fill in SITE) Enterprise Data Center (EDC) and Internet ePOP. Support responsibilities extend to the other EDCs. Position is based in (fill in SITE).

* Use best practice methodologies to design and implement network configurations which meet business and customer needs.

* Design, install and configure network solutions utilizing Cisco routers, switches, load balancers and firewalls.

* Provide second and third level break/fix and troubleshooting support.

* Utilize Application Protocol Analyzer (OpNet) to manage and trouble-shoot environment as needed.

* Follow expected procedures for documentation, NDRs, Change Requests, security requirements, etc. to insure smooth operation of the network elements of the EDC.

* Work in close partnership with other Tower personnel to insure success of the EDC.

* Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

* Entry-Level experience with a Bachelors degree in aligned discipline. Cisco Certifications are a plus.

* Knowledge of TCP/IP and LAN concepts such as vLANs, trunking and spanning-tree.

* Knowledge of WAN technologies such as EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, and Telco circuits (T1, T3, OC3, OC12).

* IP addressing design and subnets.

* Knowledge of Cisco hardware. Cisco Nexus, SAN architecture, and Virtualization experience a plus.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.
