- Data Scientist
Position requires candidate to serve as a key member of data science team working on data-driven human capital research projects serving the Department of Defense. Must possess a wide set of technical skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment. Well-rounded candidates will be preferred over highly specialized applicants.
Bachelors Degree in quantitative field such as statistics, operations research, psychology, economics or computer science.
-Strong understanding of statistical principles and data analysis.
-Moderate to advanced programming ability in at least one of the following languages: Java, Python or R; ability to develop proficiency in all three languages.
-Ability to work with and query relational databases using SQL.
-Ability to work independently and to collaborate with internal and external partners.
-Ability to translate technical findings to a non-technical audience and present project information to senior leadership and policy makers.
-Good organizational skills, time management, attention to detail and high standards of quality are essential.
-U. S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance is required.
Masters or PhD in quantitative field such as statistics, operations research, psychology, economics or computer science.
-Experience with and knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem.
-Experience building analytic jobs in MapReduce, Pig and/or Hive.
-Knowledge of the US military and the Department of Defense.
-Knowledge of machine learning approaches and ability to build classification and regression systems.
-Knowledge of natural language processing techniques.
-Experience developing static and interactive data visualizations.
-Some knowledge of technical design and architecture principles.
