Sr. Staff Failure Analysis Engineers - Electrical

Job Description

A growing semiconductor company in the San Jose, California (CA) metro area is looking for Senior Staff Failure Analysis Engineers. Kforce is working directly with the Hiring Manager. This is a critical role for success of the overall organization. You would also be involved with supporting the qualification of new product introductions at the company, again a critical role for the company. A great deal of personal and technical development will be present from the complexity, depth, and pace of the work. The semiconductor company is an engineering company, run by engineers, who put a high value on in-depth, root cause analysis. Senior management is committed to maintaining a world-class failure analysis organization through continuing.

Main Activities:

* Will help identify, understand, and resolve the root causes of customer returns
* Respond to internal and external customer requests for analysis of the company's products
* Enable the company to meet failure analysis cycle time and quality commitments
* Provide periodic updates to management regarding your ongoing analysis projects


* Must be able to take a schematic for a new device and, step-by-step, micro-probe the die to find the failing circuitry
* Experience with failure analysis techniques and solid lab skills
* A BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field with semiconductor emphasis
* Advanced degrees are preferred
* At least 5-15+ years of experience in Failure Analysis, Product Engineering, or Design
* Strong semiconductor failure analysis experience of semiconductor devices more on the electrical engineering side
* Strong technical understanding of how a diode and transistor work
* Good written and oral communication skills in English
* Ability to use a curve tracer and optical microscope
* Experience operating FA equipment, SEM, FIB, X-Ray, etc.
* Good troubleshooting skills
* Ability to read schematics
* Experience reading or creating GDSII files
* Experience supporting the automotive industry is a plus
* Fab and/or assembly process experience a plus
* Chemistry lab experience is a plus
* PMIC or Audio IC experience is a plus
* Sample cross-sectioning skills are a plus
* Experience working with BGA packages is a plus
* Analog circuitry and mixed signal skills are a plus
