Oracle DBA
Role and Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for the Oracle Financials Data Base Administration, including daily monitoring, maintenance, problem management, administration, and production support for Oracle Applications E-Business Suites environment.
- System administration activities such as creating user accounts, concurrent executables/ programs, creating functions/ menus and responsibilities.
- Coordinate all Oracle Financials and other related application database requests, follow through on requests, disaster recovery testing, SOX compatibility and basic support and maintenance of the application database environments
- Track all Oracle Financials requests and issues, reporting on completed deliverables and milestones via weekly status to Oracle Financials management team
- Coordination of the following Oracle Applications functions: installation, upgrades, patches, SR support, database tuning, concurrent manager administration, cloning and Oracle Apps SYSADMIN functions. Database creation, database tuning/reorganization, SQL statement tuning, backup/recovery, general troubleshooting, developer/integrator relations, script development, documentation and DBA training.
- Work with the DBSS team to provide quarterly data base capacity and maintenance reports including the analysis and recommendation for maintenance and planning.
- Possess and continue to grow Oracle Financials expertise via online web sites, training, local user groups and vendor contacts.
- Evaluate the current Oracle Applications Database and make recommendation for maintenance and clean up activity.
- Provide remote production database management and administration services for the ORACLE relational database management system in support of distributed business applications. This includes performing oracle installations, database upgrades/migrations, management of space, backup, recovery and performance tuning
- Install, test, and implement complex system-level changes within the technology infrastructure.
- Operate, maintain, and provide customer support and consultation for a wide variety of complex technology components and systems.
- Provide leadership in establishing operational processes and documentation for delivering world-class technology platforms.
- Analyze and develop innovative solutions for complex problems involving availability and/or performance at the system level. Work with vendors to resolve problems.
- Provide technical leadership for capacity and performance analysis.
- Interact with customers and provide leadership in developing and recommending innovative solutions to business problems of high complexity, including preparation of economic models, cost-benefit analysis and project budgets for technology acquisition.
- Develop and maintain specialized knowledge of current and emerging technologies.
- Provide coaching and mentorship on Oracle Applications and database administration to Oracle Financial team members and the database administrators
- Occasionally requires working overtime to meet tight deadlines, working during off-hours to avoid disruptions or to provide 24-hour coverage, and providing on-call support.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10 Years with Bachelors; 8 Years with Masters; or 14 years of experience in lieu of degree
- Minimum of 5 years of Oracle production support DBA experience
- 3 Years Oracle eBusiness/Financials experience
- Familiarity with architecture, both logical and physical design
- RMAN familiarity
- Program in PL/SQL
- Must be either a US Citizen or Green Card holder
- Database Design - Customized functional extensions and reporting data marts. The Oracle Applications DBA must have outstanding Database design skills including complex architecture designs and databases over 1TB.
- Functional Expertise - General understanding of the Oracle Applications module and Oracle Financials experience including AP, AR, FA, GL
- Oracle Application Server - Candidate must understand the internals of the Oracle concurrent manager and understand how to monitor and tune Oracle Applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience cloning and patching the E-Business environment utilizing tools such as rapid clone, adadmin, adctrl and adpatch.
- Experience supporting Oracle Applications versions 11.5.10.2 through R12, Oracle Database /9i/10g, SQL*Forms, SQL*PLUS, PL/SQL, SQR, ORACLE*Reportwriter, UNIX shell scripts, Apache, OC4J
- Communication – expert oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to explain technical issues to customers, team members and management
- Experience with RAC, Dataguard, and ASM
- Oracle certification strongly preferred
