Our leading edge healthcare client in Charlotte NC is looking for a long term contract resource that could eventually become full time in 2014.

A perfect candidate will be an architect who can display strong skills in following 3 broad categories:  Cognos Architecture (Administration), Metadata Modeling, and Report Development.

Administration

-       Experienced in architecting multi-server Cognos environments.  As a part of multi-serve, the candidate should be familiar with the following aspect of Architectural design

o       Design for Load balancing for Gateway as well as Dispatchers

o       Failover design for the Cognos architecture.

o       Integration with LDAP and familiar other aspects of security design

o       Hardware capacity planning

-       Ability to support a multi-server Cognos 10 environment

o       First line of support for Production issues -  Ability to troubleshoot and pin-point application level (Report design, FM Design etc) or system level issues

o       Well versed with Performance tuning of Cognos 10 architecture

o       Managing the configuration (Datasource setup) and  reporting content (Migrating reports)

-       Experienced in setting up Audit and Logging for the Cognos environment

Metadata Modeling

-       Experienced in  in developing a FM Model against a large multi-subject data model.

-       Ability to manage a configuration of FM Projects & Models across multiple releases.

-       Well versed with the standard Warehousing techniques and strong data modeling experience

-       Experienced in modeling relational and DMR structures in FM Models against a variety of target subjects such as (but not limited to) multi-fact, multi-grain, factless facts, or degenerate dimensions etc

-       Ability to trouble shoot or support design issues stemming from cardinality or multi-path joins.

-       Familiar with standard optimization and performance tuning techniques.

o       Comfortable with analyzing and parsing the (long stitched) queries that come out of Cognos.

Preferred Platform Skills:

        In addition to above skills,  a candidate who had worked with Cognos in a Unix based environment and has some exposure to Shell scripting is preferred.
