The Software Engineer in Quality role provides an exciting opportunity to utilize your software development skills towards implementing test solutions. You will need to be innovative in your approach and exercise creativity in your delivery.

• Help design, develop eBay's next generation test engineering initiatives as well as help the development of broad testing framework / unit, functional, build validation and integration testing.
• Work with engineers, team leads, managers to help developing innovative testing solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to testing goals and principles.
• Be able to estimate testing effort, prioritize assignments as well as to plan implementations
• Help to implement and articulate testing strategies, test automation and test engineering technologies.
• Identify project risks, quantify risk/benefit ratio and provide alternative solutions as well as risk mitigation. Offer deep defect root cause analysis and root cause solutions.
• Communicate effectively with peers as well as relevant software development partners.
• Develop industry and product technical expertise relevant to eBay's deployment and business model and successfully advocate change across teams.
• Execute test deliverables following software engineering principles. Innovate.
• Participate in knowledge sharing sessions, present test engineering solutions to others.
• Design, divide and negotiate test development with team members from Quality and Development teams.
• Proactively recommend coding solutions and solve problems
• An individual with a background in software development and testing is required
• Strong communicator able to work across teams and levels
• Experience in JAVA/JUNIT required
• Experience with SOAP/XML
• Experience with Oracle RDBMS is highly desirable
• Knowledge of J2EE and application servers such as websphere and web-logic is highly desirable
• Performance testing experience are desirable
• Experience in Agile Testing practices desirable
