Health IT Security and Privacy Consultant

Position Overview:

MBL is seeking qualified candidates to join our team as a Health Information Technology & Privacy consultant. This position is a mid-to senior-level position that will support the development of nationwide initiatives for our client with a focus on implementing government health IT agendas to realize successful means of sharing health information electronically. This role requires knowledge of and experience developing and delivering solutions for federal clients and private sector clients related to the implementation of HIPAA, HITECH, Meaningful Use, and electronic health records (EHR).

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as or closely supports ead in implementing emerging health IT requirements for nation-wide programs for federal clients.
  • Manages design and development of new strategies and activities related to the development of EHR meaningful use standards.
  • Develops enterprise policies and procedures in response to health IT regulations and products, including interpretation of agency policy based upon requirements found in HIPAA and HITECH.
  • Designs and delivers general and role-based health IT training for organizations and stakeholders.
  • Understands the health IT and privacy-related implications of the evolving landscape of health information networks and new technologies.

Desired Skills: 

  • Experience with the Nationwide Health Information Network (NwHIN). 
  • Deep expertise in managing HIPAA and HITECH requirements and initiatives for federal clients.
  • Understanding of Meaningful Use and its implications on health information initiatives.
  • Understanding of issues and discussions on EHR.
  • Experience developing privacy guidance and requirements for emerging technologies.
  • Knowledge of information security requirements for health-related organizations.
  • Understanding of health information incident policies, prevention efforts, and appropriate handling.
  • Proficiency in designing health information education and outreach programs.
  • Experience working with health IT community groups and varying types of customer groups.
  • Knowledge and experience working with health IT regulatory guidance.
  • Possess a "can-do" attitude, and be committed to working in a fast-paced collaborative team environment.Demonstrated ability to manage personnel.
  • Exceptional client service and personal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to write clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to understand the “big picture” and to identify and resolve key issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in an environment of change.
  • Masters degree in Health Policy, or an equivalent and related discipline.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizen (required)
  • BS/BA degree (required)
  • Program management certification (preferred)
  • Privacy industry (CIPP) or HIPAA certification (preferred)
  • Public Trust Clearance or clearance eligibility
