Job Description

Robert Half Technology is currently looking to fill a Sr. Systems Administrator in West Houston.

This individual will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Provides necessary technical documentation on systems and infrastructure during and after projects.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

2. Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.

3. Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

4. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.

5. Ensure the operational usage of systems across the enterprise.

6. Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.

7. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.


Job Requirements



Experience in the design, build, management and support of Microsoft Windows 2008/2003-centric environments is required. Experience with the following is strongly desired: Windows 2008/2008R2; AD; Exchange; Citrix XenApp; VMware; SAN; SQL Server; SharePoint; scripting (powershell, vbscript); TCP/IP routing; WAN; Cisco routers; SCOM, Backup & Disaster Recovery.

5+ years of IT experience

Analysis, design, implementation, troubleshooting and administration of enterprise Citrix environments

Analysis, design, implementation, troubleshooting and administration of enterprise VMware environments

Analysis, design, implementation, troubleshooting and administration, of enterprise Microsoft environments
