Acentia is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team.
The senior Software Engineer position will be involved in the requirements analysis, design, and development of a web based search-able interactive data warehouse. The Senior Software Engineer will provide support services to establish a web-based search-able interactive data warehouse.
Responsibilities to include (but not limited to) the following:
- Conduct business process modeling and data analysis across 6 participating agencies to understand the data, its structure, the collection method, the interpretation, data lineage, etc.
- Assist with data warehouse requirements analysis, data analysis and help in developing common/conformed dimensions to enable search across all data sets
- Work with developers and database administrators in the translation of the business strategy into technical strategy in the design, development, and implement of the front-end web application, the web site, and the search-able data warehouse
- Execute the supporting Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes for the data
- Design and develop business intelligence solution with interactive capability
Additional duties may include:
- Collaborate with Data Warehouse Architect to build efficient performing and secure data warehouse
- Participate in software and database architecture reviews and design projects, as needed
- Support quality assurance and production database related issues including data partitioning strategies and performance tuning
Minimum Experience:
- 7 years programming experience in relational and distributed database environments
- Agile software development using open source technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery, Drupal)
- Data visualization (Java Infovis, D3)
- Scripting in database environments (PHP, Python)
- PostgreSQL development and performance tuning
- Experience in Linux or other UNIX environments
- Familiar with ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) development & administration, particularly from a data warehouse environment perspective
- Understand web applications vulnerability and prevention techniques (SQL Injection, XSS)
- Proactive monitoring and accounting for future growth in distributed database environments
- Familiarity with current best practices in Data Warehousing techniques i.e., Star Schema Optimization is a major plus
Skills and Qualities:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a team player, detail oriented, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (Required)
- Master’s Degree is highly desired
Clearance:
- Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust
- Credit Check (Required)
