Position
As a Network and Application Performance Engineer “Network Engineer”, you will help solve government customers’ network, application, and server capacity/performance issues. This job combines engineering disciplines with a business focus for delivering performance recommendations. Candidate will utilize OPNET’s software to plan, design, deploy, operate, and optimize service provider infrastructures. Additional tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Perform network capacity planning and performance analyses with IT Guru Network Planner, VNE Server, ACE
  • Perform network design analysis and configuration validation
  • Analyze and understand client’s requirements, organization functions, and decision making processes
  • Produce a solution that fulfills client’s needs within budget and schedule constraints
  • Collect network performance information required for simulation modeling studies
  • Perform server capacity planning and performance analyses for UNIX and Windows based platforms
  • Present and articulate advanced product features, benefits, and overall product solutions
  • Based at from a remote/home office, with extensive travel

Qualifications
Here’s what you should bring to the table:

  • BS/MS degree in an Engineering discipline with 5+ years of communication network design and/or analysis experience
  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • A thorough technical understanding of communication networks (designs, protocols, components, and operations)
  • A fundamental technical understanding of multi-tier application architectures and performance issues
  • A professional, take-charge style
  • An ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical people
  • A scientific passion for precision and the evolving art of network design and planning OPNET software experience
  • Must be motivated to have an impact on our products, our company, and the state of the art.
