Acentia is seeking a Database Administrator to join our team.
Responsibilities to include (but be limited to) the following:
- Demonstrated experience developing SDLC system documentation
- Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access as well as database consistency and integrity.
- Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
- Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.
- Create or support creation of, required reports in response to business user needs.
- Perform database transaction and security audits.
- Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels.
- Work with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers.
- Perform IIS website configuration, troubleshooting and support.
- Respond to and resolve web front end access, connectivity and performance issues
- Shift work supporting daily operations of web and database servers
Minimum Experience:
- 7 years of experience which includes IT systems architecture
- 3+ years of experience with business architecture, operational architecture, process modeling, strategic planning, and capacity management is a plus
- Practical experience in applying data visualization design and techniques
- Relational database knowledge and experience using PostgreSQL and other Relational databases
- Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture
- Working knowledge with System Development Lifecycle development process
Technical Experience Required:
Candidates should have experience in the following areas and be able to demonstrate exceptional competence - in one or more of the following technologies:
- Unix Systems
- Postgres
- Kettle
- Apache
- PHP
- Python
- Windows Server 2008
- Windows SQL 2005/2008
Should understand and be comfortable with the following concepts:
- ITIL
- Configuration Management
- Release Management
- Change Management
- Microsoft Active Directory 2008
- COOP and Disaster Recovery
- Backup and Recovery Strategy
Skills and Qualities:
- Excellent time management, multi-tasking and prioritization
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent documentation skills
- Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical executives and managers
- Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to deal with ambiguous situations on a consistent basis
- Ability to prepare technical documents, technical presentations, and provide significant input in technical document review
- Ability to work independently and in groups
- Ability to work well independently or in a team setting
Clearance:
- Must undergo and successfully attain the following security investigation: Background Investigation (BI)
- Must successfully clear a Credit Check
