Job Description

In this role, you are expected to have expert knowledge in IBM pSeries and AIX and serve as the resident subject matter expert for implementing AIX-based solutions.

This is a post-sales delivery position with design validation work. A typical engagement is you will partner with an account executive and systems architect to gain an understanding of the solution. You are expected to validate the design, offer recommendations as required, and have the ability to implement the solution based on the project requirements and the agreed upon project scope.

You will install and configure the hardware and software and work with other engineers as required to complete the project deliverables.

You are also expected to engage in other project-based work and have the ability to properly set work priorities and client expectations.

This position is based at the company headquarters in Woodland Hills with onsite client field work.

Desired Skills & Experience

Business Partner Channel Experience. Ability to create solution visios, excel spreadsheets, and work log reports. Ability to work independently and in teams. Self-starter, willing to travel as required, and have a willingness to continue to learn new technologies and take certification exams.

Must have 8+ years of expert knowledge in IBM AIX (pSeries) Systems engineering

Experience installing/configuring/upgrading AIX v.5, v.6, and v.7
Experience with storage subsystems and Fiber Channel switches and routers from Brocade and Cisco

Expertise in HMC and NIM (Network Install Manager), PowerVM virtualization, PowerHA, and Advanced Shell Scripting

Must have designed and implemented complex Unix-based enterprise solutions with current technologies

Must have extensive experience in client-facing engagements

A working knowledge of Backup and Recovery, HA & DR, Virtualization and IP solutions is expected

Strong troubleshooting skills

Strong verbal and written skills necessary for clear understanding of scope, technical solutions, project deliverables, project documentation and client communication

Off-hours effort is occasionally required

Degree in related field

Current IBM certifications a plus
