  • Systems Administrator/Engineer 2


Northrop Grumman Information Systems in Aberdeen, MD is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator /Engineer 2 for a fast-paced, growing, dynamic program in support of the FBCB2-JCR (Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below/Joint Capabilities Release) system, a major U.S. Army battlefield digitization command and control system. The qualified applicant will support and maintain software engineer lab environment, evaluate and recommend new emerging software and hardware, and troubleshoot related O/S integration issues. Roles & Responsibilities:

* Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with other network administrators.

* Able to interacts with end-user and develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

* Evaluates and makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software to be integrated into the existing system architecture.

* Ancillary duties will include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, coordinating and installing system wide software and providing backup recovery. DSDIS

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline with 3 years of related experience. May consider years of experience in lieu of a degree.

* Must be able to obtain & maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

* Experience in systems administration.

* Experience in configuring and managing UNIX based and Microsoft operating systems (i.e. Solaris, Red Hat Linux, and Windows)* Experience with virtualization, ideally with VMware ESXi 5.0

* Experience in applying and documenting operating system security configurations.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

* Strong problem solving skills.

* Strong organizational skills / detail oriented.

* Able to work professionally in a customer's facility.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Active Secret Security Clearance.

* FBCB2 experience.

* Familiar with networking technologies and applications with a CCNA certification are a plus

* Experience in supporting an SW engineering lab environment.

* Experience in hardware and software systems integration.

* Familiar with DIACAP security guidelines.
