Our client in North Suburban Chicago has a position open for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong technical skills and project management experience. Reporting to Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Sr. Engineer will work in the Global Device R&D organization and provide individual design contributions and lead other engineering resources to enhance and remediate medical products. Familiarity with precision electro-mechanical devices and a strong background in mechanical component design, mechanical system analysis, Solid Works, plastic materials and manufacturing processes are required.
Responsibilities:
- Lead cross functional engineering projects focused product enhancement and remediation.
- Design parts sub-assemblies and assemblies for medical instruments using 3D CAD modeling, and dimensional analysis.
- Verify accuracy of mechanical design via rapid prototyping
- Develop and communicate project progress reports, including schedule, accomplishments, variations
- Prepare and conduct technical reviews and design reviews for cross-functional team approval.
- Maintain compliance to current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) and Quality System Requirements.
- Submit documentation as required into Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and Design History File (DHF).
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred
- Must possess strong mechanical engineering expertise with minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience.
- Advanced hands-on expertise with Solid Works 3D modeling, 2D drawing and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong expertise in performing tolerance stack up analysis for complex sub-assemblies.
- Five years expertise in Project Management
- Experience in Management of Cross-functional engineering teams
- Ability to design and analyze complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and assemblies.
- Familiarity with engineering simulations and analysis utilizing tools such as Monte Carlo simulations, MatLab, MathCAD, ANSYS FEA or similar tools.
- Familiarity in injection molded plastic, machined and sheet component /assembly design for manufacturability.
- Familiarity with current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) and knowledge of medical device quality systems are highly recommended.
- Experience in electro-mechanical medical device design is a definite plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Team oriented attitude is a must.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings management and control.
