The Senior Release Manager serves as a liaison between varying business units to guarantee smooth and timely delivery of software products or updates. This role is the gatekeeper to the production systems and applications and is responsible for the all deployment and packaging of software changes in the production system. The candidate must be a skilled communicator and have good organizational skills. This role will be responsible for ensuring that all changes to the production environment are reviewed, approved and implemented following a structured, standard process that minimizes risks while ensuring that required changes are made in a timely fashion. The successful candidate will collaborate with numerous technical teams, DBA team and business leaders to set goals, priorities and schedules for the ongoing success of the change and release management process.
Responsibilities: Prepare the Quarterly release calendar, recording all important release milestones, phases, and system downtimes. Reconcile roll-out dates and timeframes with all parties participating in a release Ensure all Change requests and associated documentation is recorded in the Change Management tool, use the tool and associated reports to track changes Acts as gatekeeper from a technical and process perspective and work closely with regional support teams to ensure smooth transition and awareness of release and production window items prior to deployment Work with Development and QA staff in testing, configuring, staging and deploying new code to pre prod & production environment Work with Production Support staff in handing over application, new versions and detailing changes to the production environment Develops and maintain technical support documentation & inventories Work with counterparties to ensure systems are optimally configured Own, maintain, and publish the Release Notes document Manage Production window activity in respect of testing, UAT sign-offs and deployment to Production Act as Gatekeeper for Go-live production readiness, for both quarterly releases and Production window migrations Participate in weekly meetings with Regional support/Change management/Development teams to ensure availability of environment and resource Prepare release activity status reports Co-ordinate Regression testing and ensure completion to deadlines set by the quarterly Release schedule Co-ordinate Performance testing objectives, scope and deliverables to ensure compliance and completion to deadlines set by the quarterly Release schedule Co-ordinates testing on internal projects specific to FIS colleagues Challenge and enhance the release management process Continuously educate the internal team and stakeholders on the importance of release management Ensure change procedures are adopted across the entire organization and adhere to departmental audit policies Lead and participate as required in internal and external audits Implements and maintains tools to support release and change management
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferably with a focus in one or more of the following disciplines: Business Administration, Computer Science, Accounting Information Systems Finance
Requires 5-7 years of experience Strong experience in software release engineering, and/or configuration management Extensive experience performing functions of build/release/ configuration engineer. Experience must include use of Oracle eBusiness ERP or other Enterprise solutions Knowledge of software configuration management systems and/or source code version control systems. Knowledge of the deployment of Oracle PL/SQL code, forms and reports Knowledge of technical architectures and development phases Working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Knowledge of software testing and automated test scripts and quality assurance methodologies Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to interact effectively with internal and external clients, peers, management and cross-functional areas, to build relationships and use facilitation skills with both technical and non-technical personnel Ability to manage time effectively, to work under time pressure, to meet schedules and deadlines, to multi-task, to plan, organize and prioritize work assignments and pay close attention to detail Proficiency with Microsoft applications; specifically Projects, Excel, Word, PowerPoint Good time management skills; ability to set priorities and meet deadlines Knowledge of information technology and financial accounting concepts a plus Strong analytical skills with the ability to creatively solve problems Ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce
