Job Title:           Director, Enterprise Reporting

Position Summary:    

 

The Director Enterprise Reporting at Healthfirst (HF) reports to the Vice President - EIM,  in a team setting directing and coordinating activities of the reporting and extract group.  Determining Reporting requirements; knowledge of system capacity to determine project feasibility, controlling and assigning work to programmers; recommending policies and procedures; analyzing department production and redesigning workflow if appropriate. In addition, the responsibilities include evaluation of the new tool that can promote the self-service model along with appropriate checks and balances.                          

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

·       Directly supervise managers/supervisors in the EIM Reporting Team.

·       Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable job aids. Responsibilities include budget planning, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

·       Analyze, define, and document process improvements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interface with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.  Analyze and estimate feasibility, time, compatibility with other systems, and computer capabilities.  Research and evaluate software to assist in programming or to use as program platforms.\

·       Coordinate the training of staff in programming standards, improve technology used, determine future reporting/extract direction and validate staff are following the Solution Delivery Methodology.

·       Assign, coordinate, and review work of direct reports.

·       Revise or direct revision of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.  Consult and/or coordinate with business units to prototype, refine, test programs to attain approval.

·       Manage the designs of applications from specifications, workflow charts or diagrams, considering factors such as computer storage capacity and speed, extent of peripheral equipment, and intended use of output data.  Develop and maintain policies and procedures, job aids that outline steps and time tables for developing, testing, and installing applications.

·       Manage screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems.  Create extendible software to define business rules. 

·       Experience in SAS, Crystal XI, SharePoint, SSRS, SSIS and Performance Point.  Experience in Business Objects, Cognos and other Business Intelligence front-end tools desirable.

·       Create deployment and migration data plans for production and development environments.

·       Handle other duties as assigned such as special projects outside scope of routine work.

·       Working under light supervision maneuver multiple tasks independently with a fast-paced proactive vs. reactive approach to changing priorities.

·       Contribute creative solutions and ownership of daily assignments for seamless communication and systematic completion of routine and special projects.  

·       Ability to expend additional efforts towards the success of the projects and ensure quality deliverable in a timely manner.

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or MIS.

Years:

 

·       Minimum twelve years of related experience trained in reporting and extracts including query design and performance.

·       Minimum eight years in a management role responsible for software development specialized in reporting, extracts and relational databases.

·       Minimum eight years of managerial responsibilities for 10 or more direct reports, interviewing, hiring, corrective actions, terminations, evaluating staff performance, motivating, training and delegating.

 

Experience:

 

·       Effective interpersonal skills to consistently demonstrate expertise, business knowledge, team cohesiveness, respect, non-alarming directives and patience while interacting during crisis management and stressful deadlines.

·       Excellent communication skills, especially in one-on-one and small-large group settings are essential.

·       Adept working and managing an environment that is diverse and multi-cultural.

·       Present information effectively to executive management, client groups, and Healthfirst user community.

·       Experience working in a team environment, exercising independent thinking, problem solving and achieving goals and deadlines.

·       Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

·       Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Experience:

 

Managed Care or Healthcare experience a plus

 

Physical Demands:

 

While performing the duties of this job this employee will be occasionally crouching, reaching, bending, walking, standing and lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling 1 -20lbs.  This employee will also be frequently sitting and keying.                                          

 

Work Environment:
