Senior SQL Server Database Administrator will be responsible for designing new and/or upgraded solutions for the company's technology needs. They will advise on feasibility and methodology of integrating IT services and other critical processes regarding database services and data integrity protection. Lead the development of IT solutions that include the design, integration and 3rd Tier support of various hardware and software technologies in a global enterprise environment, including backup and recovery, database security, troubleshooting and maintenance. Cross training other members of the IT team and mentoring of junior level DBAs. As a secondary responsibility, the Senior DBA will perform design and integration services for various non-SQL related system applications, as required.
SQL Server (2000-2012) administration, management and security
Installing and configuring cluster SQL servers in Active-Passive or Active-Active
Independently research and migrate database applications
Database backup & recovery, DR planning, SQL Server Agent/maintenance plans.
ETL of OLTP data to the Data Warehouse using DTS and SSIS
Design/Deploy Cubes using SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
Usage of database tools, including the Index Tuning Wizard, SQL Profiler, and Windows Performance Monitor for monitoring and tuning SQL server performance
Creation/tuning of views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to facilitate efficient data manipulation and data consistency
Design/implementation snapshot, merge and transactional replications
Creating and maintaining technical documentation for various environments
Design/deploy management reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Formal Education & Certification
Knowledge & Experience
5-10 years IT operations with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
5-7 years Microsoft SQL Server administration
Understanding of, and experience with, server-client computing and relational database environments
Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices
Development and integration of SQL database services in an enterprise environment
Managing SQL server policies
Designing database Backup & Recovery, DR planning, SQL Server Agent/maintenance plans.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Ability to balance and prioritize work on multiple projects.
